Wooster Oilers Wins First Two

Brandon McPhail has been named team captain for this season and is a force to be reckoned with on the ice

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 16, 2009 -
09/13/09     The Wooster Oilers are proving they mean business this season by coming out to win their first two games in a row. This last weekend saw he Oilers in New York battling the Predators on their home ice which didn't prove to be an advantage for the Preds. After being savagely beaten on Saturday, the Preds came out Sunday with a more determined expression, after Saturday showed a 14 - 0 win by the Oilers and on Sunday they won he game by only one goal.
The stars of the Wooster team are undoubtedly forward and Captain Brandon McPhail who led the Oilers with a hat trick and 7 points on the first night with a total of 10 points by Sunday night, and Chris Wobser who marked his first ever junior shutout.
The Oilers were quick to sign McPhail who proved his abilities in a shortened season in 2008-2009 and still was still the leading point getter for the Oilers that season. In only 28 regular season games he managed to tally 56 points total.
McPhail had also spent parts of three seasons with the Oilers Junior "A" team while splitting duties with teams throughout Ontario and the Maritime provinces in Canada.
" It was tense for a while wondering if we would get Brandon this season" commented Oilers Director of Hockey Operations, Garrett Pierce. " Brandon brings not only an incredible scoring touch but a style of hockey that tends to protect our younger guys" "He is a thinking player and considers the goal rather than the glory", concluded Mr. Pierce.
Brandon McPhail has been named team captain for this season and is a force to be reckoned with on the ice. An full rounded player that understands the game, being a goal getter (and a warrior if the need be). We are sure to be seeing a lot of this #9 hockey machine in an NHL lineup very soon.
" I wanted to finish something we started here a few seasons ago" McPhail replied when asked why he wished to return to the oilers for the year. " I could have stayed at home and played in the Tier 2 leagues but I saw what the Oilers organization was trying to do by bringing back some great veterans and signing some good looking rookie talent. It is obvious that they are trying to win a championship and I want to be a part of that " McPhail concluded. Leland McPhail, the father and biggest fan of Brandon said in an interview that the effort of working long hours and carrying equipment to road trips as a hockey Dad since his son was too short to hold a regular length stick has paid off by seeing Brandon become the world class hockey player he is. The suffrage and expense is tremendous and if it was easy everyone would be doing it, he says.
We are looking forward to the next game against the Troy Bruins to see if the oilers are planning to maintain their winning streak.
