New Distributor for Spot ® Satellite Messenger Announced in Ballarat

Soul Free Adventures (Aust) Pty Ltd is Ballarat’s first authorised distributor of Spot ® Satellite Messenger. Spot ®'s unique technology ensures a new level of safety for all those who work in remote areas outside cell phone range.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 16, 2009 – This amazing new device is sure to find its niche across a range of industries, including agriculture, mining, forestry, transport, aviation and fisheries, as well as with a diverse range of recreational users including fishers, boaters, 4WDers, campers, bushwalkers, gliders, etc. Anyone who works away or recreates away from home now has the ability with Spot ® Satellite Messenger to let their workplace, family or friends know they are OK when out of cell phone range, as well as being able to request non urgent help, or request immediate urgent assistance. It also provides the ability for authorised contacts to track your progress live utilising Google Maps or Google Earth.

Spot ® Satellite Messenger is a small, rugged and waterproof handheld device which receives your location via its inbuilt GPS and transmits this information to your contacts via email and / or SMS messaging. Spot ® is proving to be a great seller and popular with anyone who ventures into the great outdoors or is in an area of poor or no cell phone coverage. SPOTS® are also proving their worth as an excellent OH&S safety device. Many companies now have a Lone or Remote Areas Policy and are having their staff check in on a regular basis using SPOTS® to comply with their OH&S obligations.

Current users of Spot ® Satellite Messenger include Victoria Police Search & Rescue, NSW Police Rescue, WA Police, Vic Forests, Goulburn Murray Water, South East Water, Melbourne Water, Southern Water NSW, QLD Rail, RTA NSW, Alcoa, Rio Tinto and Bush Heritage Australia.

SPOT®  uses the GPS system of satellites to find its location and then transmits this data using the Globalstar Satellite Network. Use of the system is via a yearly subscription fee.

SPOT has 4 primary functions:
1.   OK button. The ability to inform people (nominate up to 10 contacts) via email or SMS that you are OK. It also provides a link to your location in Google Earth.
2.   HELP. The ability to inform people (nominate up to 10 contacts) via email or SMS that you need HELP (non-urgent & non life-threatening) from them only and NOT the emergency services. This allows families and organisations to handle non-urgent & non life-threatening emergencies “in-house” avoiding unwanted and unnecessary publicity. It also provides a link to your location in Google Earth.
3.   9-1-1- HELP (urgent) button. The ability to request IMMEDIATE & URGENT HELP from emergency services. Your request together with your GPS position in latitude and longitude (together with a link to Google Earth) is sent to emergency services so they know exactly where you are thus expediting your rescue. This is the device Tim Holding should have been carrying in his recent emergency on Mount Feathertop in Victoria’s mountains!
4.   LIVE TRACKING. The ability for your contacts to track your journey live via Google Earth whether you are mobile on foot, in the air, overseas or out at sea.  It updates your location approximately every 10 minutes and your track can be viewed live on either Google Maps or Google Earth.

Spot ® Satellite Messenger is small, lightweight (209g), rugged and waterproof. It is powered by 2 x Lithium Ion AA batteries which allow the ability to:

-   Transmit approximately 1900 messages
-   Transmit for 14 days x 24 hours in SPOT-casting live-tracking mode
-   Transmit for 7 days in 9-1-1- mode

These features make Spot ® Satellite Messenger  excellent for all environments and applications.

Soulfree Adventures welcomes all enquiries from industry and private users and can accommodate all requests no matter how large or small. Soulfree are happy to arrange a personal demonstration of SPOT for you, so don't delay. Contact Soulfree for your personal demonstration of Spot ® Satellite Messenger.
