ILSCO Re-launches Trio of E-commerce Web Sites

ILSCO, a leading supplier of electrical connectors, leverages product information management (PIM) platform and integration services from Enterworks for its ILSCO.com, UTILCO.com, and ILSCO Canada Web sites.

Sept. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- ILSCO, a leading supplier of mechanical and compression connectors to OEMs, distributors and contractors in the United States and Canada, has re-launched its three e-commerce Web sites to support its U.S. and Canadian operations as well as UTILCO, its subsidiary for sales to the utility industry.

The sites allow ILSCO distributors to place and track orders and manage their own accounts, accessing ILSCO’s live operational systems through the Web for real-time transactions.  The sites’ e-catalog pages pull their content from a central repository of product information, with additional product attributes such as marketing descriptions appended to the data as part of the product information management (PIM) platform.

Enterworks Inc. provided the solution, which included the PIM platform and integration services to connect ILSCO’s back-end system for order processing, invoicing and reports with the PIM repository as well as with all three of the e-commerce Web sites.  The solution also supports offline order processing so that the ILSCO sites can function independently and continue to receive orders while the back-end system is offline for maintenance or other reasons.

ILSCO sales representatives can also sign into their customers’ accounts to place orders on their behalf.  In addition, the sites offer useful features such as a distributor locator and sales rep locator integrated with Google Maps so that purchasers can find the ILSCO resource nearest to them.

Future plans include integrating the PIM repository with ILSCO’s print catalog production and to feed product data to the Industry Data Warehouse 2 (IDW2), a central repository of manufacturer product information and pricing data.

“ILSCO is committed to enhancing our distributors’ and representatives’ experience and making their lives easier with advanced sales and marketing capabilities,” said ILSCO President Andrew B. Quinn.  “The new systems from Enterworks will help us to continue providing them with the excellent service they’ve come to expect from us.”

“We’ve been honored to work with the ILSCO team on this mission-critical project,” said Robert Lewis, president of Enterworks. “The enhanced product information management and e-commerce tools behind ILSCO’s sites will help keep their content perpetually updated and will make ordering and account management much easier.”
