List Building: Size Matters; So Do Lies

Size does matter when it comes to Internet marketing -- the size of your list. Every ounce of energy you have should be focused on building a huge, thriving list...

Sept. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- Brattleboro VT When you're an Internet marketer, the size of your list determines how much money you make. Size definitely matters.People with the biggest lists always win the affiliate contests, get invited to all the cool events, and are pretty much the rock stars online.

So, how do you get to be one of them?

By consistently working toward building your list every single day.

To do that, you need an autoresponder account, which will help you to create the optin form where people place their names and email addresses. The autoresponder also stores the information for you. It also allows you to create follow up messages so that you can send your list great information, and broadcast messages so that you can send them offers for products that you stand behind.

You will need to put that optin box on a Web page of some kind. Typically, this would be a squeeze page, where people are given only the options of signing up for your list or leaving the page.

To get them to sign up for your list, you can create an "ethical bribe," which can be an article, a special report, an ebook, an audio, or a video that provides great information about something related to your niche. You can also put an optin box at the top of your blog, on Facebook, or any other page on the Web where it makes sense and is allowed.

Then, the final step is driving traffic, and there are many ways to do that online--blogging, writing articles and press releases, and pay per click among them. You need to do at least one of these activites every day. By sending people to view your page, you will build your list. You can also use tactics like entering a product into a free giveaway, getting optins via co-registration, or running a weekly TV or podcast show. Any ways that you can think of to build your list should be put into play.

But here's the thing. Don't lie to the people on your list. If you do, you'll lose their respect and your messages will end up in the recycle bin. You won't make any money. Always try the products you offer first. Be sure that they're quality products and that they produce results. If you do these things, and build your list as large as it can grow, you will be successful online. It's just that simple.
