L.Carter Plumbing and Heating is group of Plumbers and Heating Engineers based in Lancaster in the UK who also have a passion for renewable energy projects. For several years the company has been providing heating and plumbing services throughout the North West of England and during that time they have gone from strength to strength.
As part of their continual redevelopment and expansion the company has recently launched a new website. This is in direct response to research done by the directors which found a lack of professional and high quality plumbing and heating related websites in their catchment area. Also based on their market research, L.Carter Plumbing and Heating opted for a website which was fully accessible and usable by parties with disabilities to ensure it complied with current DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) requirements.
The website has been built by “Matt Inertia”, a freelance WordPress and SEO consultant from the UK. The guidelines which Matt had to conform when building the site included:
• Full accessibility and usability compliance.
• Valid and correct coding.
• Clear Semantic Layout and Structure.
• Cross Browser Compatibility.
Lee Carter, managing director of L.Carter Plumbing and Heating said “We wanted to produce a website which excluded no web users, so this meant ensuring very high standards in web design and development were met. Matt Inertia has answered each request with a well planned out and implemented approach. We hope the site will continue to set standards for many years to come.”
The website is now completed and went live on the 1st September 2009. The main drive for the company’s future web enterprise will now centre on populating the site with information and resources relating to all the companies services; which includes basic home heating and plumbing requirements as well as assistance with renewable energy projects.
It is hoped that this kind of approach will help the company move forward even in these times of depression and at the same time a valuable lesson can be learned by companies offering low quality sites to enthusiastic business men.
