TAPE is hosting a night of music, cutting-edge Hackney-based product design and multiple EP launches on 24th September in 93 Feet East, London. As the label’s official launch party, everyone associated with the story so far is warmly invited.
The evening will feature a heady mix of hip-hop / tropicana fusion from YoMundo and Theo Bard’s contemporary folk-reggae. Then the Ska/ Indie crossover band Super Luckies will come and play. All of this is to be topped off with a DJ set from Aaron Audio and a rare live DJ set from Animals on Wheels, aka Andy Coleman, one half of Robots with Hearts.
The first cause for celebration is the emergence of a new label which hopes to make its mark in a rapidly changing industry, and to help musicians to produce great things.
The second part of the festivities will be the launch of EPs from two of the TAPE bands. Theo Bard brings socially aware folk with ‘Listen Carefully’ released on CD and digital. ‘Divided by Zero’, an experimental hip-hop / electronica contribution from Robots with Hearts, is released on digital and limited release 10” vinyl.
Finally, designer Ryan Frank’s range of specially commissioned merchandise will be presented, all designed and manufactured in Hackney from sustainable materials, according to Frank’s strong environmental ethic.

About TAPE Records - Established in London by Daniel Cross, Jo Maeva and Aaron Horn in early 2009, TAPE has been set up as a non-genre specific record label with the simple aim of releasing music by people they like and believe in. It is set up in conjunction with SPZ (Sarm Studios, Perfect Song and ZTT).
Daniel runs a London-based music consultancy called Record-Play. Aaron is a music producer who is a director of Sarm Studios, where many well-known bands have recorded. Jo is a carpenter by day, currently building sets on Harry Potter films, and a musician by night.
Daniel commented: “TAPE allows us to congregate our network of music loving friends who work in graphic and product design, promotion, sound and marketing. In a collective and co-operative sense we are able to generate work and income from production, merchandise, licensing and live performance.”
Artists involved in TAPE are provided with the full range of traditional label services as well as a depth of experience in recording, music licensing, merchandise and administration. TAPE is administrated by ZTT, London.
