If you live on Planet Earth, you probably have an email account. And if you have an email account, you probably receive spam. Your email program’s spam filter probably removes most of the offending messages. But sometimes, a message gets through from someone who got your email address in a way that just doesn’t sit right with you. It annoys you, and you want to get back to the sender. Strangely, these feelings seem to happen more when you can imagine the person behind the message---when a human actually took the time to put your address into the “To” box, as opposed to a spam robot.
What to do? If the offender is not an obvious spam organization, you’ll probably write to him asking to be removed from his list. (If they are from a spam organization, writing back will only generate more spam.) But sometimes, that’s not enough. You want the spammer to become the spammee.
A Site About Nothing is pleased to announce the launch of a free tutorial explaining how to fight back against a spam emailer. “I hope to have created the best site about how to retaliate against spam emails,” says Andy. “Or at least, one in the top million.” Joke aside, it’s a great resource.
