What’s in a name? We sat down with Erin Barry, the 23 year old Creative Director of the new online gift phenomenon S’more Gifts, at her Boston home to make some s’mores and ask what name of the store means to her. “Fun, love, and your favorite way to enjoy the company of friends” Barry continues, “I’m a huge S’more fan, to the point where I’ll pop one in the microwave in the middle of January, without a campfire in sight.” At 23, she’s been able to harness more business savvy in a single s’more than most more than twice her age. When asked what her secret is, she simply states, “I figured out where I want to be, and work toward that goal daily. It’s about creating something fun, light, and meaningful that I can be proud of. I set out to build something larger than me, and it ended up building me.”
Tell us what makes S’more Gifts stand out from the crowd?
EB: S'more Gifts' baskets go beyond the sentiment and include only foods that are good for the body and helpful in aiding the recovery process. Our baskets include items rich in antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins, as well as healthier versions of traditional snacks. We tailor our gifts for specific illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, by including foods that alleviate symptoms associated with the particular disease, ailment, or condition. We’re able to tailor our gifts to those who may need them the most. It’s about gifting love and health in a single package.
You’ve recently partnered with Camps 4 Us. What does this connection mean to you?
EB: Camps 4 Us an awesome directory of camps and year round programs for children with emotional and physical special needs. We love what the organization stands for. They have camp listings in over 35 camp categories, ranging from specialty diet needs including diabetes, celiac and weight loss, to cancer/oncology and bereavement. The Camps 4 Us Gift Basket line was a natural fit. Parents can send great camp care packages tailored specifically to the health of their child. Besides, what’s camp without s’mores!”
Thank you for letting us into your home. It’s been a blast speaking with you! Before we go we’ve got to ask you one last question: Which 5 people would you invite to your campfire and why?
EB: That’s a tough one! Off the top of my head, I’m picking: Oprah – She’s brilliant. She’s got it together and really gets what this life is about. She can do no wrong in my book. Richard Branson – The pinnacle of entrepreneurialism as I see it. Bill Cosby – The one and only, and I’d love to dance with him to the Cosby Show theme song. Tim Ferriss – I love his attitude, Dennis the Menace of the business world. My mother – The strongest woman I know, not to mention I’d like her to dance with Bill and I. That’s a great group! I think we’re missing an athlete though; I’m throwing in Tim Hightower, a friend and source of inspiration beyond measure. Faith, dedication, and heart personified. That’s six, we’ll have to squeeze.
So there you have it, a tough graham cracker shell, filled with gift-giving spirit and get-well faith, S’more Gifts is here to stay.
