INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
Yogis Throughout the World Cross the Borders of their Mats to Raise
Consciousness and Funds for Important Causes.
BALI — (September 10, 2009) — On September 19 and 20 the Global Mala Yoga for Peace
Project, whose purpose is to unite the global yoga community, will implement events throughout
the world in honor of the United Nations International Day of Peace. The Global Mala Project
Bali on Saturday, September 19, is one of the featured events in Southeast Asia taking place in
the spiritual center of Ubud. Gathering over 25 yoga, meditation and qi gong teachers from all
over the island including local and international musicians will offering live music & kirtan.
Forming a “mala around the earth” through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of
108, the mission of the Global Mala Project is to raise both funds and consciousness for some of
the most pressing issues facing the world today. Global Mala Yoga for Peace Project is a featured
event during National Yoga Month 09.2009. The Global Mala Project Bali will raise funds
for 2 local children’s charities, Yayasan WINS project and Breath of Hope foundation.
Hundreds of yogis in Bali will join together at the Yoga Barn in Ubud on September 19 from 8 to
11 am, coming together to promote peace through practicing 108 sun salutations, 18 minutes of
meditation and qi gong and 27 minutes of kirtan joining the worldwide GMP peace movement.
GMP Bali will also offer a kids mini yoga mala (18 rounds of sun salutations)
and acroyoga. Taking its name from the sacred prayer beads called “mala” used in India and Tibet
as meditation guides, the Global Mala Project will benefit the Yoga Health Foundation and
numerous other charities and projects being supported by local community leaders. Composed of
108 beads, the mala is symbolic of the prayer for peace, hope and charity the Global Mala Project
will be sending to the world.
Global Mala Project Bali 2009 is partnering with top yoga studios, resorts, events and foundations
that feature yoga & wellness programs on the island of Bali including, Balispirit.com,
Balispirit Festival, The Yoga Barn, Four Seasons Resorts, Como Shambhala, Desa Seni Resort,
Intuitive Flow Yoga, Vibrant Living Yoga, Mallika, Aspara Yoga, Taman Hati Yoga and Meditation

This year there will be over 400 locations worldwide participating in the Global Mala Yoga Project
with events in Asia, The United States, Europe, Africa, Australia, Canada and many more
