Church Preschool Expands Services
New Programs Bring Record Enrollment

TROPY CLUB, TEXAS
The Preschool at the Church at Trophy Lakes has answered the requests of the congregation and surrounding community for the 2009-2010 school year.  Additional classes, including full-day Kindergarten have been added, and for the older children, there is an after-hours program that runs until 6:30 PM each day.

“We are seeing more families with both parents working, and searching for a quality program for their children,” stated Terri Thompson, the Director of Preschool and Children’s Ministry at the Church at Trophy Lakes.  “By adding an after school care program, we are able to continue to serve our families throughout the elementary school years.”

Thompson, referred to as Mama Terri, brought over 18 years of public education experience and vision to the program when she transitioned from Arlington I.S.D. to the Church last January. Besides classroom experience, she has also served in different Youth and Children’s Ministries. She also participates in a mission trip each year and takes the different youth groups to summer camps.

“This summer, we were working on a house that had siding and roof damage. When it was time to trim the branches, I looked up and there Terri was on the roof ready to go,” recalls Trophy Lakes Youth Pastor Jon Bunn.  “The next week she was at Children’s camp with 48 kids from 1st to 6th grade. Her energy and excitement is contagious.”

With a new school-wide curriculum called the Berry Blast Theme Park, the Preschool offers a program from children 18 months thru Kindergarten.  The Kindergarten class was added on this year and is the only full-time faith based private instruction in the Trophy Club/Roanoke Community. The school is licensed for 118 children and is currently at 97% enrollment.  The school offers 2, 3, and 5 day programs to meet the individual needs of the families.

“I have never witnessed church facilities used more in my entire ministry,” stated Barry Clingan, Senior Pastor. “Every day of the week preschoolers, children and students fill our building with an abundance of activity. Our church family is excited to support all of these growing ministries to children.”

For the older children, the Preschool sponsors an after school program from 3PM to 6:30 PM daily. The program includes and after school snack, homework assistance and different activities. On Wednesday nights, the students have the option of staying for dinner and participating in the Awanas Program, which teaches the bible and mission based living. The Preschool is an official bus stop from Lakeview Elementary, and staff provides a shuttle service from Beck, Roanoke, Hughes, and other elementary schools in the Northwest District.

“We are here to serve the children. Our program is a safe and nurturing environment that can help with homework so that when the parents get off work, they can have quality family time,” said Thompson.

The Church at Trophy Lakes serves the Trophy Club, Roanoke, Keller and surrounding communities. The Church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Willow Creek Association. The preschool and children’s ministries support the church’s mission to be a place where God’s unchanging truth changes lives.  Kindergarten was added for this school year, and long range vision includes a Christian Academy.  The Preschool is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

The Church was formally known as First Baptist of Trophy Club and was restarted in 2004 under Pastor Clingan and is located on 13 acres at the corner of Trophy Lakes and Trophy Club Drive.

“Our Church is dedicated in serving our community through God’s purpose. Our preschool and youth activities will provide a terrific foundation for the leaders of tomorrow,” stated Clingan, “And we will continue to grow and serve the increasing needs of our families and the community.

The Church also offers several programs other programs for the entire family. They offer many small group bible studies for adults throughout the week. The X-Streme Youth Group meets on Sunday Mornings. Sunday Evenings and Wednesday Nights. The do several community service projects throughout the year including volunteering at local food pantries, missions, and go on at least one mission trip each year. This year, the youth leadership also attended the Super Summer Leadership Academy.

“It is important for us to serve the community we live in and give to others in need,” stated Trent Thompson, X-Streme Youth Member and Senior at Northwest High School. “ We are learning skills that will last a lifetime.”

It is our vision that the Church at Trophy Lakes will be a place 'Where God's Unchanging Truth Changes Lives.'

This mission statement springs out of the conviction that there are only two things that are going to last forever in this world; God’s Word and People. We believe that the function of a New Testament Church is the bringing of these two together resulting in a changed life.
