The recent launches of British Gas' Websaver 4 (www.britishgas.co.uk)
Websaver 4 is a popular tariff which offers savings if the customer decides to manage their account online and pay by direct debit while E.ON's Fix Online 3 (www.eonenergy.com)
Fixed and capped tariffs are usually slightly more expensive but Fix Online 3 was, until British Gas began offering cashback recently, the UK's cheapest tariff in 11 of the 14 UK Regions.
These two tariffs alone offer the customer a choice of fixed or tracked domestic fuel rates giving the customer who hasn't switched one less reason to sign up.
The message to the consumer is clear: Customers who remain on their no nonsense Standard Tariff or who remain loyal to their original suppliers are losing out. They could be paying as much as £300 more than their neighbour for the same gas and electricity, through the same pipes and wires.
Now that is an even bigger reason to switch.
