Celebrated Tenor Thomas Spencer-Wortley has been invited to be Katherine Jenkins’ special guest at the Big Gig Weekend, taking place at the Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet later this month.
The operatic singers will perform on Sunday September 27, the final night of the three-day event. They will draw to a close an exciting series of concerts for all music tastes.
A Royal Academy of Music graduate Thomas has appeared in the West End and toured the UK with Fame the Musical. He will be performing on the night accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra.
Thomas said, “I am both flattered and thrilled to have been asked to join Katherine Jenkins as her special guest on such a big event, and to have the opportunity to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra is a dream come true!”
Thomas plans to sing a combination of his own material and covers such as You Raise Me Up, while Katherine will perform classics such as Amazing Grace and a section of Proms favourites, including Land of Hope and Glory as a flag waving finale.
Classical diva Katherine, who has gained critical acclaim worldwide said, “It will be my first time singing with Thomas so I’m really excited to be performing with him in Shepton Mallet.”
The Big Gig Weekend begins on Friday with James Morrison as the headline act. Saturday night will see Boyzone headline with chart success Peter Andre and Britian’s Got Talent winners Diversity providing the support.
