The children of Blaenymaes Primary School are taking part in an exciting four week music project called Listen to the Paint Sing during the Swansea Festival of Music and the Arts. The project involves local artists Rhiannon Morgan and David Marchant and composer John Hardy in workshops for 148 children.
Music and drawing workshops will involve all of Year 1 - 6 pupils at the school and be inspired by two short works, Berlioz’ Overture: Roman Carnival and Debussey’s Prelude a L’apres Midi D’un Faune.
The artists together with teachers from the school will then select 50 of the participating children to take part in the second stage of the project, which will involve the creation of drawings for exhibition during the Festival (3-17 October) at the Brangwyn Hall. The children will also attend the Festival’s BBC National Orchestra of Wales concert on 10 October to hear these pieces performed.
This project has been made possible through the support of Arts & Business Cymru
