Salveo Innovative Telecare System For Older People

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 11, 2009 - PerVaya is a French high tech company, created in June 2005, designs and sells Salveo, an intelligent telecare system for older people living alone at home or in specialized care homes. Given the lack of resources in society to support older people at home and the low efficiency of existing telecare solutions, having better systems is becoming an urgent issue. The Salveo system developed by PerVaya, offers an innovative response to the expectations and needs expressed by customers and in prospective studies on older people in European countries.

Currently, most products on the market involve wearing bracelets or pendants and require direct manipulation by the user. According to studies, two-thirds of users do not wear them, or wear them only from time to time, and half of the others do not press the alarm button when something goes wrong.

Salveo is an innovative telecare system, with proactive and preventative features that help to identify emerging healthcare situations before they become critical. The system automatically learns to adapt to the older person's daily living routine. Internet access is available to caregivers to increase peace of mind and anxiety.

Salveo system consists of a wireless sensor network installed in the older person's home that transmits information to a local base. The local base transmits data from the sensors to PerVaya’s central server via a dialup connection. As there is no need for wiring, the system is easily installed in under an hour.

In our central server, a computer program analyzes the data of daily activities. If it detects an emergency or unusual situation, an alert is sent to a medical call center, a family member, a neighbor, or a professional caregiver.

Some examples of emergency situations detected by Salveo are: not waking up in the morning; possible fall in the bath room; abnormal room temperature; disturbed sleep patterns; decreased daily activity level; change in bathroom usage, gas leaks or fire.
