A new conference, scheduled for October 6, will train marketing teams and event coordinators, executive directors and management to think in new ways about how to engage private business and increase their success at fundraising.
"Many non-profits are stuck in a rut," explained Wendy Moore-MacQueen, educator and facilitator of the conference. "The Partnership in the Non-Profit Sector Conference is a day long event designed to share information on the needs of private business in making the decision to work with a non-profit organization and to engage non-profit executives in looking outside the norm for opportunities."
The non-profit sector behaves in a very competitive fashion, according to Moore-MacQueen, a 25-year veteran of marketing communications. This competitive behaviour also keeps some non-profits from seeing partnership opportunities within the sector.
"With the scarcity of donor and sponsorship dollars, non-profits are becoming a little cutthroat," she added. "This is affecting the tone that private business receives from non-profits."
