Silver Surfers Lead The Way As Most Bargain Hungry Demographic

Research from the UK’s biggest money saving website can today reveal that the Silver Surfer demographic classification is the most bargain hungry of all of the site's users.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 10, 2009 – Silver Surfers are putting younger generations to shame when it comes to saving money and finding the best web bargains according to analysis by the UK’s biggest voucher code website.

MyVoucherCodes.co.uk commissioned research into its user base as part of its marketing campaign planning and found that not only are silver surfers the most frequent users of the site, they claim to look for a discount code for nearly 95% of online purchases.

The second most popular demographic of users of the site were married stay-at-home mums who claim to use MyVoucherCodes for just over 80% of their online purchases and use the site mainly for day to day shopping such as online supermarket orders.

The company anticipated that its main user base was made up of younger, single people with disposable income looking for gadget or electronic consumer item purchases but this category actually came in 3rd place.

64% of Silver Surfers asked say that they have saved between £1k-£2k this year alone using MyVoucherCodes with the majority of sales relating to holidays or large white goods purchases such as washing machines or cookers.

78% of married stay-at-home mums say that they have saved at least £200-£500 using the money saving website alongside 61% of the same category who now say that they would only ever stick to online grocery shopping unless they had to visit a store.

Speaking about the results, the Managing Director of MyVoucherCodes, Mark Pearson said,

“We were all taken aback by the fact that Silver Surfers are the most popular demographic of user of MyVoucherCodes but it just goes to show that our site appeals to every generation and that we can help everyone save money when looking to make online purchases”.
