Sept. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- The “Claiming Your Power World Healing Ceremony” sponsored by the Spiritual Unity Movement (SUM), will be presented at 6:55 p.m., Saturday, October 3, at “The Onion” Sacred Dome 9550 Haskell Ave. in North Hills (near the I-405 and Nordoff). SUM is an all-denominational, non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and celebrating the truth that exists at the heart of all faith traditions.

The guest speaker for this month will be Ikakiaayo. His talk will be on the topic of “Vision Quest and Altered States.” Born on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana, Ikakiaayo has worked with over 75 Nations on Turtle Island (North America) throughout his life performing ceremonies for healing and restoring the ancient ways in his quest to re-establish the traditional customs for all Indigenous Peoples. Now he is bringing this information to all peoples as it is "time to wake up the world."

Ikakiaayo teaches the ancient pathways that lead all back to their ancient people to regain their freedom and ways of living in balance with all of the natural creations here within Grandmother Earth lodge. Remembering your ‘Personal DNA Wisdom Bundle’ will help you to empower your life. Ikakiaayo can see who you were before you were born into the flesh; he can also tell you from what clan you came from in the ancient world of Iihtsitaitapiyo’pa (God world) and what your life mission is for right now.

Along with Ikakiaayo, the Wild Rose Drum Team will also perform drumming and chanting of Native American music from various tribal regions of the United States in this Claiming Your Power World Healing Ceremony. The Team was founded in 1993 when Lyn, following her passion and inner guidance, realized it was time to chief her own team. Drawing on ten years' experience as a Metis drum team member, including two years as assistant drum chief, she now called on her Native American and Celtic ancestors to assist her in this endeavor. Soon there were fifteen people gathered together drumming and chanting the spiritual rhythms and sounds of Shamanic cultures.

Aside from being the guest speaker for this month’s event, Ikakiaayo will also offer individual Shamanic Readings while he is here between the dates of October 5 and October 16 and hold a drum-making workshop on October 10 and 17. You must register by September 30 to participate in this workshop, because the materials will have to be ordered in advance.  In the drum-making workshop, you will not only build a drum, but you will do so in the ways of ancient shamanic tradition. You will:

•   Receive your totem--the animal, mineral, or elemental, or plant clan that you come from if you haven't already received your totem from Ikakiaayo in a reading ($25.00 extra for this service).
•   Learn Ancient Bear Drum Chants to use with your drum.
•   Paint your totem on your drum--freehand or with stencils provided.
•   Learn to use, care for, and become one with the essence of your drum.
•   Participate in a drum blessing sweat lodge (which is generally milder than regular sweats), and you can participate inside or outside the lodge for this blessing.
•   Learn various shamanic drum beats. We will be holding regular drumming/chanting gatherings to keep up your shamanic drumming practices after the workshop.
