The first event dedicated entirely to crafters who sell on the internet will take place at Paintworks in Bristol this November.
MISI (“Make It Sell It”) is the UK’s most innovative online craft marketplace. Home crafters use the website www.misi.co.uk to set up their own online shops and sell their creations.
MISI typifies how ordinary people are using the Internet to do extra-ordinary things. It is remarkably simple for someone to set up a store on MISI and swiftly start selling their own creations. Sellers on MISI offer everything from jewellery to Furniture.
MISI’s mission is to challenge the role of the high street by introducing the people who buy directly to the people who make. It is the brainchild of keen crafter, web developer and young Mother of two Emma Hogg.
Since the launch MISI has grown phenomenally and today the site has over 2000 sellers and generates over 70000 visitors a month.
Emma Explains, “I have always had a great passion for British crafts. We are constantly being told by the likes of Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey to cook homemade and Support local British farmers, but why stop at food? Food miles aren’t the only miles that matter! It gives me a huge buzz to support small craft businesses and watch them turn a passionate hobby into a profitable reality”
The first MISI event which is being held on November 7th is being supported by Sew Hip Magazine and Cath Kidston. It will give MISI followers and crafts people across the region the opportunity to sell their products in exciting and vibrant surroundings.
Emma, who is based in Clevedon just outside Bristol, said “Apart from almost 40 exhibitors, there will be craft workshops throughout the day, live music, and refreshments available, making it an enjoyable day out and the perfect place to start Christmas shopping!”
The show has already attracted a huge amount of support from the craft world and applications have been flooding in for stands. The final list of exhibitors will be announced on the MISI website in September.
The show will be open from 10.30am to 5.00pm and entry is just £2.50 per person, with children under 14 being allowed in free. The first 100 visitors will also receive a goody bag crammed with information and samples.
“We hope this will be the first of a series of shows,” says Emma. “Look out for details of the MISI event road show shortly!!
