Wordpress Worm
Wordpress has adviced bloggers to as soon as possible upgrade to the latest version of the blogging platform. That's the only way to fight of this malicious worm that attacks older versions of the blogging software.
If you use a blog that is hosted by wordpress.com you do not have to worry, because the worm can only attack blogs hosted elsewhere. The newest version 2.8.4 will fix this scary issue according to Wordpress.
On Wordpress own security blog they state that the worm exploit a hole in the "permalink structure", creates an admin status for itself and then use javascripts to hide all while it place spam and malware all over your old posts.
If you are infected by this worm, your links will no longer work properly and your posts will contain only spam.
This virus was detected already August 11, however, there are still a lot of people who have not upgraded their Wordpress. Therefor the worm is continuing to spread.
WordPress tell us to upgrade with this advice: "Upgrading is taking your vitamins; fixing a hack is open heart surgery. (This is true of cost, as well.)
Take your vitamins as fast as possible!
