Indian power information portal PowerGyan launched

PR Log (Press Release) – Sep 08, 2009 – Indian power sector is buzzing with activity, thanks to a series of initiatives by the Government of India to deliver on its promise of Power for All by 2012. Programs like Rajiv Gramin Vidyudikarana Yojana (RGGVY) and the $10 billion (Rs 50,000 crore) restructured - accelerated power distribution reforms program (R-APDRP) are generating lot of interest from Indian as well as foreign business houses.

Out of the $10 billion funding for R-APDRP, about $2 billion (Rs 10,000 crore) has been set aside for IT intiatives like setting up a statewide data center for each Indian state and centralizing all IT applications for power distribution utilities from these data centers.
