Braintree, MA -- XMLAW, the leading provider of SharePoint-powered information and knowledge management solutions to the legal industry, announced today that their client, Reed Smith, was named SharePoint Innovator of the Year 2009 at the International Technology Legal Association (ILTA) conference in Washington, D.C. on August 26, 2009.
The SharePoint Innovator of the Year award recognizes a law firm or corporate law department for its innovative use of Microsoft’s SharePoint technology. Reed Smith’s intranet portal was selected by legal industry peers at the conference, who voted on award winners from a field that was narrowed to four finalists from more than 100 submissions.

The Reed Smith project team was led by Tom Baldwin, Reed Smith’s Chief Knowledge Officer, and Lisa Gianakos, Reed Smith’s Director of Knowledge Management. The portal leverages OneView Connect software to integrate internal and external information sources, and also provide targeted content to lawyers and staff. The targeted content requirements were based in part upon user personas created by Janders Dean, another technology vendor. The resulting portal is an intuitive way for users to find critical business information and collaborate with each other, connecting more than 3,200 people in 26 different countries.
