Long Beach, CA—SCS Engineers (SCS) has been awarded a contract by the City of Chula Vista to provide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions report verification services for the City's 2008 GHG emissions.
SCS will verify the 2008 GHG Emissions Inventory, prepared by the City of Chula Vista, by identifying emission sources, reviewing GHG reporting methodology and management systems, and verifying of actual emissions estimates. These goals will be accomplished via
data review and on-site inspections of a select number of City of Chula Vista facilities, as well as analysis of the City's completed reports and associated inputs, calculations and on-site activities.
Chula Vista is a participant in The California Climate Action Registry (CCAR), a private nonprofit organization that serves as a voluntary GHG registry and provides leadership on climate change by developing and promoting credible, accurate, and consistent GHG reporting standards and tools for organizations to measure, monitor, third-party verify, and reduce their GHG emissions consistently across industry sectors and geographical borders.
SCS Engineers is a CCAR-approved verifier and participant in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Pilot Program for GHG Validation and Verification (V/V) Program accreditation.
Raymond Huff, SCS Vice President and CCAR-accredited Lead Verifier, will act as the Lead Verifier/Project Manager for this project.
