CA Book Publicist Charlie Barrett Expands To Serve Self-Published Authors, Screen Writers

Sept. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Hollywood, CA - - Charlie Barrett, voted Book Publicist of the Year by the Southern California Book Pub Society, will represent  screen writers, self-published and small press writers and authors in both the non-fiction and fiction areas, it was revealed today. Over the years Charlie Barrett, who heads the Los Angeles based PR/publicity firm, The Barrett Company, has repped authors with such publishing giants as Norton, Little Brown, Simon & Schuster, Scribners, McGraw-Hill, Time-Warner Books, SMU Press and many, many others. Mr. Barrett has personally directed publicity for such entertainers as Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon, Robin Wright, Robert Stack, Bryant Gumbel (Today) and many others.  He served as the NBC staff publicist for the network’s long –running late night staple, "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" from 1984 to the early 90s. “Oftentimes,” said Charlie, “television and film producers are looking for new stories…new books to make into shows and movies.  We have many long standing relationships in Hollywood that we hope to put to use for  aspiring screen writers, self-published, small press writers too.”

Earlier, Charlie served as an editor and film critic with the Hollywood trade paper, The Hollywood Reporter as well as a  music publicist for Capitol Records (Glen Campbell) , Mercury Records ( Rod Stewart) and Elektra Records ( Judy Collins).
