Wirral based Hankinson Painting Group, is on track to represent the UK in the European Business Awards for the Environment.
The Company has just been notified that it is among the major winners in the Green Apple Environment Awards, one of the few accredited feeder schemes into the international campaign.
The award recognises the Company’s industry leading environmental efforts and in particular the commitment to being the first Painting Contractor in the UK to recycle all waste paint tins and waste paint and solvents.
They will be presented with their Green Apple Award at the House of Commons later this year, when top winners have the chance to represent their country in the Brussels event.
The Green Apple Awards are now in their sixteenth year and attracted more than 500 nominations this year. They are organised by the Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-activists, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
Group Chief Executive, Stephen Hankinson is thrilled with the award “everybody in the Company has made a commitment to environmental issues and this is a huge pat on the back. To now be considered to represent the UK in the European Business Awards is a tremendous honour”.
Amy Rosser, Environmental Co-ordinator for the Company is also delighted with the accolade “as well as reducing our Carbon Footprint we have also raised environmental awareness throughout the Company and the support I have received from everybody has been outstanding. To win an award of this calibre makes us all feel extremely proud”.
This national award follows recognition in the Liverpool Daily Post Regional Business Awards where the Company picked up the Royal Mail Green Award and their achieving “Highly Commended in the Environmental Leadership Category of the 2009 Contract Journal Awards.
As a major award winner, Hankinson will now also be invited to join the National Green Heroes, an elite group of environmental achievers who use their experience to help thousands of others, and the environment, around the world.
