DHL, the world’s leading Express and logistics company today announced the “DHL - DELIVER HELP DRIVE” from September 3rd to 13th, 2009 - an initiative in association with GOONJ – an NGO focused on mobilizing resources like clothes, toys, books, utensils and other donations for the underprivileged in urban slums and rural areas. Through this initiative, DHL will use its core business expertise by making it convenient for donors by collecting contributions from their doorsteps, thus taking care of the logistics. The idea behind the drive is to call all Mumbaikars to action and not wait for calamities or disasters to donate.
The DHL Deliver Help Drive was introduced in 2008 where DHL collected more than 4 tonnes of clothes, toys, books, utensils and other donations from over 2500 households across Mumbai. DHL this year has partnered with FEVER104 FM to build awareness on this campaign and create a “Call for Action”. GOONJ, the voluntary organisation will be distributing the collected donations through its network of more than 100 grassroots groups in the far-flung villages of 19 states of India. To make your donation, please dial-in to DHL’s Call -in # +91 22 6741 2737 or email to idonate@dhl.com and the DHL Express personnel will collect these donations from your door steps.
Talking about the initiative Malcolm Montiero, Senior VP & Area Director-South Asia, DHL Express Asia Pacific said, “Having successfully run the ‘DHL Deliver Help Drive’ in 2008, in association with Goonj, we are even more confident of the value of this initiative. As a business we have always focused on ways in which we can use our core competencies to benefit society and this project demonstrates our commitment to engage with and help local communities across Mumbai.”
Anshu K. Gupta Founder-Director, GOONJ says, “We are absolutely delighted that DHL through its ‘DHL Deliver Help Drive’ is committed to our cause and hope that more corporates in Mumbai and other metros get inspired by this campaign.
