What Would You Do With $300 And A One-Way Ticket To Mexico?

New Book Chronicles A Young Ex-Pat’s Experiences in Mexico and Central America

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 07, 2009 -
We’ve all entertained a daydream or two about packing up and starting over in a foreign country, living in a culture unlike our own and new experiences at every turn in the road. This summer, author Grant Lingel’s travel memoir Imagine: A Vagabond Story (Langdon Street Press; ISBN 978-1-934938-53-9; September 2009; 16.95) offers dreamers and doers alike stories of Central America, with an entertaining cast of characters and a fascinating reversal of the traditional paradigm of Mexicans seeking work in America.

With a one-way plane ticket to Mexico, three hundred dollars, and no real itinerary or plan, Grant ends up in Playa del Carmen, where he instantly falls in love with the Caribbean lifestyle and its free-spirited people.

Along with fellow hostel-dwellers, he explores Mayan ruins, beautiful beaches, and some of Mexico's less savory areas. An impromptu road trip with six new friends lands him in Guatemala, where he volunteers at hostels for room and board, spending his time with an international cast of exciting and eclectic characters.

Imagine is a memoir of sex, drugs, and Salsa dancing, but even more so it’s a tale of rare camaraderie and of life-changing adventures that can only happen with an open mind and spontaneous spirit. This is an unforgettable true story that will intrigue, inform, and most of all inspire all who are fortunate enough to come across it.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
