FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 06, 2009 -
Cool vs. Cruel is an annual fashion design contest that challenges the students of Art Institute all over North America to re-create garments by using different elements to replace fur. This year, students will be asked to improve a cruel design by Michael Korbs, Burberry Prosum, Thakoon or Alexander McQueen.
“Each year over 50 million animals—including millions of dogs and cats—are killed for their fur worldwide. Although the fur industry does its best to keep the cruelty out of sight, suffering is a common ingredient in all methods of procuring fur, from fur factory farming to trapping. Many, perhaps more than half, of these animals are killed specifically for fur trim—it is not a by-product.” – The Humane Society of the United States

The winner will have an all expense paid trip to New York Fashion Week. The finalist will be honored an internship with a world-renowned international designer.

Ariel is thrilled to be part of this great cause; she is on a mission to make a difference in today’s fashion world, come and show your support to your local designer. The admission is free and will be held at The Art Institute of Vancouver on September 17th (Renfrew and Grandview campus).
