PR Log (Press Release) –
Sep 05, 2009 – South Carolina has a new pageant for women of color. Many young women will not have the opportunity to participate in a pageant of any kind and that is especially true for women of color. Filling that void is exactly what Miss Black South Carolina International seeks to accomplish. There are many issues that directly affect the African American community and pageantry is a great way to get our young people involved. The Miss Black South Carolina International Scholarship Pageant’s mission is to empower women of color through out the state by providing them a platform in which they will gain the opportunity to speak out about issues that directly affect their lives and their community. Miss Black South Carolina International is sponsored by My Sister’s Keeper Ministry of Restoration. My Sister’s Keeper was founded in 1998 as a 501 c 3 nonprofit, grassroots, community based organization.
The Miss Black South Carolina International program will provide positive mentoring opportunities for all women of color. Miss Black South Carolina International focuses on three specific platforms: 1. Voluntarism and Community involvement;
2. Educational Programs; 3. Mentoring Programs.
There are still some local titles available. Young ladies ages 4-27 are encouraged to apply to represent their city or county. MBSCI also offers a non-competitive Queen's court for girls and boys ages up to 12. Please visit the website for additional information.
