With so many different types of fencing available it can be difficult to select which is the most appropriate solution for our gardens. AVS Fencing, suppliers of decking, driveway gates and wooden fencing offer three main types of garden fencing panels each offering a different style and function depending on your specific needs.
The main types of garden fencing panel are familiar to most people. Lap panels are all six feet wide and come in various heights from three to six feet. They are designed to slot in between timber or concrete fence posts and it is the easiest type of fencing to erect.
Close board panel fencing is similar as it is made up of timber or concrete posts between which the panels are fitted. Gravel boards are also used at the base of the fence which keeps the panels from rotting as well as acting as a soil retainer.
Mark Whiting, marketing director of AVS Fencing who offer everything for the garden including picket fencing and decking boards, said, “These two types of fencing remain the most popular. Lap panels are the cheaper option and although all our lap panels are fully framed they are not as strong as the close board panels. We find that lap panels work well with timber fence posts whereas close board panels can work well with concrete fence posts.”
Both types of fence panels are available in either ‘dip treated’ or ‘pressure treated’. Dip treated is the minimum that AVS Fencing suggests as this ensures the panels are protected although gravel boards are also recommended. Pressure treated panels are slightly more expensive but will have a longer life and more protection against rot. The pressure treated panels are particularly useful for damp locations, such as fencing adjacent to woodland.
AVS Fencing, suppliers of garden fence panels and railway sleepers also offer a range of Grange Elite fence panels which offer a more decorative garden solution. These panels are all pressure treated for long life and come in a selection of styles, all with strong treated frames.
Mr Whiting added, “Our Grange Elite range is popular with people wanting to spend a little bit more to give their garden a really impressive look.
“The panels are high quality and fully treated and can be ‘mixed and matched’ to give a garden a unique and stylish appearance. Many of our customers love the uneven lines of these fence panels with the St Michel including some attractive trellising above the main body of the panel.”
