Women’s Empowerment Series presents “The Art of Women”

In celebration of their second anniversary, the Southwest Florida Women's Empowerment Series in partnership with the Alliance for the Arts will present “The Art of Women,” an uplifting and enlightening event, on Friday, November 13, 2009. "

PR Log (Press Release)Sep 10, 2009 – Taking place at the Alliance campus, the full day program includes dynamic speakers, topical break-out sessions, networking, gifts and giveaways. The theme for 2009 is "The Art of Women" Succeeding in Life and Business, and proceeds will benefit Open Doors and The Alliance Children's Scholarship Fund.

"When women join together for education, sharing and empowerment, something magical happens," said Shane. “This is the greatest time to be an autonomous, independent woman in business. The opportunities are limitless.”

The highlights of the program are:
Keynote Speakers:

Sandy Stilwell-Stilwell Enterprises
Woman of the Year for GulfShore Life Magazine in 2005 and 2006 Philanthropist of the Year,  Apex Business Women of the Year in 2006,  Florida Hotel & Restaurant Association Humanitarian of the Year 2008.  She is the recipient of the Community Service Award of The Junior League of Fort Myers and was awarded Gentlewoman of the Year in 2007 for her Community Service.

Deborah Shane-Apex Award Nominee 2008, 2009, Entrepreneur, Author, Motivator, Educator, Advocate

Lydia Black-Gulfshore Business 40 Under 40 2009 finalist, Executive Director of The Alliance for The Arts, active member of Junior League and the Greater Ft Myers Chamber of Commerce

Melissa Simontis-Director of Development Pace Center for Girls Lee County. She is an active member of the Florida Public Relations Association, Gulf Coast Society of Fund Raising Executives and the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce in which she serves as the co-chair of the Women in Business committee.

During the event attendees are invited to participate in a Living Mural painted by Annette Watkins of Brushes and Bottles LLC. A Vision Board Room will also be set up in one of the art classrooms.

Prizes include theater tickets, gift cards, staycations, dinners, Limo and Spa Sisterhood Day for Two, dinners, free classes and more.

Deborah Shane is extending five scholarships to various local organizations that support the mentorship of women. Additional speakers and details will be announced soon.
