PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 03, 2009 -
Local fitness expert and owner of Superwomen Boot Camp, Val Fujii, is fired up about some recent negative media coverage on the benefits of exercise.  Today, he wants to help set the record straight.

“There was an article published recently in Time magazine titled “Why Exercise Won’t Make You Thin”, that has been causing a lot of debate in the fitness industry,” Fujii says.  “Some people are under the impression that the basic problem is that while it's true that exercise burns calories and that you must burn calories to lose weight, exercise has another effect: that it can stimulate hunger, and that causes us to eat more, which in turn can negate the weight-loss benefits we just accrued. What the article is basically saying is that exercise isn't helping us lose weight but rather it is making it harder.”

“Not so,” says Fujii.  “What it mainly comes down to is a matter of balance, self-control and common sense in order to lose weight effectively.  Rewarding yourself with a burger and fries after a strenuous workout is not going to help you lose weight.  What will help you is to develop healthy eating habits and a consistent workout regimen.  Not only will that help you lose weight and keep it off, but you will also reap all of the other benefits of a healthy, balanced lifestyle, including improved mental health and increased disease prevention.”

To help you kick start your workout regimen, grab one of your girlfriends and come on out to Superwomen Boot Camp, where you will experience how much fun you can really have while working out. Sessions run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at three convenient times—6 a.m., 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.  Spots fill up fast, so don't miss out!
