In a surprise ceremony Monday night, Shannon was presented with an engraved crystal award on behalf of her name being placed on a plaque on The Cavern Hall of Fame. Presenting the award was Cavern Club owner Bill Heckle. Mr. Heckle said of the award that it was ‘a special award for those that have brought their talent and gifts to Liverpool’. It was an especially historical moment because Shannon is the only non-musician to ever be given this honor.
“The substance of this award is monumental and makes me very proud. To be inducted into the Cavern's Hall of Fame is truly amazing. To be inducted historically, as the first non-musician, and based on the merit of my Beatles artwork ... that is far more then I could have encompassed”
In 1997, the title of 'The World’s Greatest Beatles Artist' was bestowed upon Shannon by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool. Shannon has spent the last two years creating 110 paintings for the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool. Shannon’
In March 2010 “A Hard Decade’s Night” Shannon’s book about growing up ‘Beatles’ will be published.
