SWEET DESIGNS MAGAZINE
The Voice of a New Generation
Since launching in January 2007, Sweet Designs Magazine has successfully aimed to provide a necessary forum to whet the literary appetites of adolescent and young adult females. From a nondescript laptop computer in the isolated Worcester suburb of Southbridge, Massachusetts, Editor-In-Chief Stephanie Lynn founded the publication when she was only twenty years old. In just two and a half years, Sweet Designs Magazine has managed to attract multitudes of aspiring young writers nationwide, even gathering attention from across the Atlantic.
In the midst of a culture filled with text messages, Facebook statuses, and Tweets, the mission of Sweet Designs Magazine seeks to permit those with literary instincts to tap into their creative potential, allowing them to practice, practice, practice writing and discover their own unique styles before they enter university. Lynn and her editing staff provide feedback and mentoring to a budding community of young authors. Frequent writers are able to attain “Gold Star” status, enabling them to be highlighted in a special feature on the website whilst increasing their eligibility for the achievement of a recommendation letter from the editorial board.
As Sweet Designs is always open to new submissions and grants its young writers flexibility and control over the content of their work, Ms. Lynn has purposefully fashioned a safe, open, and comfortable environment for emerging artists. She responds, "It's my goal to promote healthy, positive life choices on the part of teenage girls, and to give them an outlet to creatively express themselves and grow as writers and as people."
Exclusively online, the current issue of Sweet Designs Magazine is available at http://www.sweetdesignsmagazine.com. Poetry, prose, real-life stories, and other hot topics are covered in this month’s edition.
