Paul Williams counsels drug addicts and young offenders at a treatment facility in London. His latest case is Glen Munro, a 17-year-old who harbors a hidden talent. As Paul befriends the boy, Glen admits he can read minds and know all about a person just by touching him.
But Glen is a drug abuser who finds that drugs inhibit his psychic abilities. He is slowly going mad. Paul and Glen forge a strong friendship, and after Glen leaves the treatment facility, Paul allows the young man to move in with him until Glen begins university.
Over time, Glen begins using again, so the two friends argue and go their separate ways. Paul gets married, while Glen becomes rich creating art for a band. When Glen’s psychic abilities are revealed to the wrong people, he is abducted. Even after a long separation, Glen feels certain he can “call” on Paul supernaturally for help. Soulmates is a test of the power of friendship.
