Kansas City, Mo. – Grantham University, http://www.grantham.edu, an online university specializing in educating working adults, was recently named a G.I. Jobs Military Friendly School. The list, which was released on August 17th, honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to meet the educational needs of America’s veterans.
“For nearly 60 years, Grantham University has served the educational needs of our nation’s service members and veterans, and it is an honor to be included in the 2010 list of Military Friendly Schools,” said Colonel Tim Arrington (USAF Ret.), Director of Military Programs and Outreach at Grantham University. “We believe that every service member, veteran, and member of a military family should have the opportunity to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree, which is why we established a comprehensive Military Scholarship Program in 2001.”
Beginning last May, G.I. Jobs polled over 7,000 schools to compile its list using methodology and criteria developed by an Academic Advisory Council comprised of educators and administrators from Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Toledo, Duquesne University, Coastline Community College and Lincoln Technical Institute.
A full story and detailed list of Military Friendly Schools will be highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools, which will be distributed to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel this month.
Grantham University participates in the Go-Army Ed and Marine Corps Academic Explorer programs; The Air University Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative program; has been recognized as a provisional school in the Navy College Distance Learning Program, and is an active member of National Association of Institutes for Military Education Services (NAIMES).
Grantham is also is a partner school in the Yellow Ribbon Program. In addition to benefits under the GI Bill, the Yellow Ribbon Program helps veterans who qualify by providing matching federal dollars to cover the cost of a portion of their tuition.
