Ah! Spring is in the air and the weather is getting warm again. September is a quiet month here in Mauritius, a time to relax and recuperate before the busy tourist season starts and the Christmas and New Year holidays.

But there is still plenty to do during this month. As always, Mauritius is perfect for a romantic interlude with your partner; take a sunset cruise and watch the sun sink beneath the dreamy tropical waters, or enjoy a walk along the beach followed by an intimate dinner at one of the many fine restaurants or hotels on the island.

If you have children and are keen on their education, then you must read our Discovery article. Written by Alan Grihault, it describes his new book for children, “The Dodo Stories: Pirates and Treasures On Dodo Island”. It will make a perfect gift for children who like reading, or a novel learning aid for parents and teachers - younger children are certain to appreciate it being read to them as a bedside story and will simply love the hand drawn illustrations by Deborah Dove.
