29th August 2009, New Delhi: The Canadian High Commission has finally taken steps to address the unexpected denials of the visa application on grounds of non-receipt of important communications. However, a lot more needs to be done. Amidst all the speculations and rumors, the Canadian High Commission has finally taken measures to approach the applicants for confirmation of receiving receipts through various means. A new practice has been introduced where an acknowledgment for the email receipt is requested from the applicant for all the communications sent to them by the High Commission. However, nothing has been concluded for those applicants who do not acknowledge the emails.

However, this measure is applicable to the new applicants. Hence, it does not address the applicants who are as old as two years or those who have not been contacted via emails. In addition, they have not even been given another chance to provide for their forms and documents, after making them wait for 6 to 7 years. These applicants were promised to get a visa within the immediate 2 – 3 years. “It is good to take measures but still it is not willing to offer these applicants a grace of thirty days in such a situation of crisis,” says Mr. Ajay Sharma, Principal Consultant of ‘Abhinav’ – a leading immigration firm.

Although, a step has been taken by the Canadian High Commission, yet much has to be done.
