Dannemiller, a leader in providing innovative educational resources for a wide range of medical specialties, has launched NPJournalClub.com (NPJC), a new monthly, online literature review of clinically-oriented articles devoted to nurse practitioners (NPs) and their practice. Written by NPs for NPs, NPJC allows NPs to earn up to 12 credits per year. Dannemiller is approved as a provider of nurse practitioner continuing education by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners:
Unlike many NP continuing education activities, NPJC offers something unique – no commercial support and no funding from any source other than NPs who purchase the product. And at less than $10 per credit, NPJC provides required continuing education at an affordable price.
“While we were developing the NPJC concept, it became very clear many NPs want unbiased, high-quality education free of pharmaceutical-
Bonnallie also acknowledges the monumental healthcare changes the nation may face in the near future, placing NPs at the forefront of patient care.
“Although NPs have played an important role in healthcare for more than 40 years, the role of the NP now seems to be mission critical,” he explains. “The recent House health-reform bill acknowledging NPs as primary caregivers alongside their doctor counterparts solidifies the NP’s role in providing patient-centered care and preventative medicine – and Dannemiller wants to be in the forefront of providing our NPs with the education and credits needed to continue their mission in keeping patients healthy.”
NPJC Editor-in-Chief JoEllen Wynne, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, worked with Dannemiller in creating the online CE publication and believes NPs will appreciate what it has to offer. “Our patients deserve healthcare providers who are armed with the most current information available,” she says. “NPJC is dedicated to developing CE independent of funding and advertising – I hope as we continue to grow our NP focus and our commitment to all NPs will always be evident.”
