The demand for the health sector to try and help prevent the cause and spread of infection is vital in today’s climate. Ravensby Glass has teamed up with AGC Flat Glass Europe and Screenline to offer a combination of unique properties, which are perfect for areas where strict hygiene applies. Ravensby Glass expanded their facilities to cater for the increased demand for speciality products, the main one being hermetically sealed units incorporating blind systems.
This unique Integral Blind system is encapsulated within two glass panes. The movement of the blind does not compromise the insulating properties of the sealed unit, and operates within a sealed environment. These sealed units are operated externally by means of a magnet or the innovative remote control system operated by a solar cell. The technological advances have many benefits including energy saving and hassle free cleaning of the blinds, as there is no break in the sealed unit.
In addition, the sealed units can be combined with Antibacterial Glass, which helps eliminate 99.9% of all bacteria that form on its surface whilst also preventing the spread of fungi.
Ravensby Glass offer additional energy saving properties to their integral blind system by incorporating Argon Gas. Argon Gas helps improve the overall U-value performance of low-E insulated glazing units. The significant factor improving thermal insulation as it reduces heat loss across the two panes by slowing down convection inside the air space.
Gordon Dickson, Managing Director of Ravensby Glass commented, “ as a company we have noticed the importance of being at the forefront of technology advances and the benefits they bring to the public. The innovative Integral Blind system has been a huge success already in the fight against the spread of infections and bacteria. This has been proven in the increased interest from the new build and refurbishment of healthcare buildings.”
