One of the key components of a Do It Yourself (DIY) solar power system for a residential unit is the Photovoltaic (PV) or solar cells. How many solar cells needed for the solar energy system is totally dependent of your power requirement. If you need large amount of power to supply your home electrical appliances, you may need to construct a large solar array. A big solar array would require multiple solar cells to cover the surface area.

Unfortunately, brand new Photovoltaic cells are quite expensive. Some home owners are not willing to invest on renewable energy because of its high cost therefore making the Return On Investment (ROI) rather unattractive. Are there any ways to find cheap solar cells on the internet? As a matter of fact, there is.

One place where you can find inexpensive solar cells is at eBay. eBay is the largest portal on the web where millions of people trade goods and services. You can even find sellers who want to get rid of surplus PV cells. Here's what you need to do to find a good deal.

Firstly, go to eBay main web site. On the main page, you should see a Search bar on the top left. Type in the phrase "solar cells" in the bar and click on the "Search" button. The search engine will then pull out all the listing and offers for PV cells available on eBay. Here's where you have to do some leg work.

There are literally hundreds of search results. All you have to do is go through each and every listing. When you find the offer that meets you budget and requirement, place your bid. Before you do so, you have to create a user account with eBay. Creating a user account is very simple.

Here's the catch. When you find some cheap solar cells, sometimes the goods may not be in the best condition. Some cell may be broken or cracked. What you need to do is make sure the seller provides a 60 days guarantee on the cells. Usually the seller will comply with your request in order to make the sale. If he doesn't, you can always look for another deal.
