The Blended Learning Portal LMS (BLP) enables users to access web-conferences, cbt-based training, wbt-based training, mobile-based and mp3-based training, along with video, registration for classroom training, and manuals. Content for the BLP can be created using standard content development tools, such as Flash, Captivate, HTML, Powerpoint and more, or can be created using The Source Training's (TST) Instructional Design Studio (IDSvX). The Instructional Design Studio is a customizable suite of tools that gives instructional designers and developers the ability to quickly and easily create learning interactions such as glossaries, FAQs, assessments, blogs, scenarios, and more.
Rather than forcing learners to assimilate content in only one format, the BLP gives them quick and easy access to content created in a variety of formats. Some learning events may be available in many formats, while others may only be available in a single format. "A blended approach gives learners the most effective way to understand training content. Many of the interventions created using the Instructional Design Studio can be deployed across multiple formats with a single development effort. This gives users a chance to learn using methods that match their learning styles." said Steve Thorpe company President. "Creating a central portal for eLearning web-conferences, cbts, video, reporting, and socially collaborative components such as blogs, user and course news, and an all new twitter module provides a 360-degree approach to the learning process."
The BLP's administrator tools allow for the customization of the portal. This includes the ability to match the color schemes, logos, etc. of an organization. The BLP also includes administrative tools such as group and user maintenance;
The web-based administration of the Blended Learning Portal along with the web-based Instructional Design Studio makes remote administration of the BLP and creation of content for the portal quick and easy. The modular architecture allows organizations to acquire only those tools necessary to meet their training objectives. The IDSvX can be expanded over time as additional tools are released or as training demands change. "The scalability, flexibility, and extensibility of the tools allow organizations of all types to meet the requirements of their eLearning initiatives whether large or small." according to Kelly Hansen Director of Sales.
