We are in strange times in the music business folks. Will we ever see another Hip Hop Artist signed before he's already Big? BurnUnit is a small production house in Durham N.C. Currently has 2 Big time Artist Mercee(Rap) and Ms Ocean Bre Taylor(Pop/Hip Hop R&B) their skills are second to none . I have spoke with 2 Majors who knows of both Artist and have interest in both Artist but insist they are waiting for the music business to Stabilize before approaching B/U top Guy and House producer Boss-Smit.My take is this. I feel all Majors are waiting on B/U or any other small label to Break their stars them self just as Lil Ru and Head Hunters Records did out of South Carolina. My advice to any small label that can last through this very strange time in music is this, If you Develop and Break your Artist, KEEP your Artist. It's Math folks $6 to $8 and total control of Release dates will far better service your company than $1 and no control over your artist on their next CD if there is a next one, a few spins on radio with a cameo on MTV, BET, etc...
