A couple days ago,a mobile metrics report of July 2009,from AdMob,a famous mobile advertising firm, estimates that applicaton store market size may be worth at approaching $2.5 billion in one year.
The report is based on a result of a survey of over 1,100 iPhone, iPod touch, and Android users,to acquire more details and datas about their application usage.
As the figure above shows,the report reveals that iPhone users download approximately 10 applications per month on average,25% of which are under paid. iPod touch users download over 18 applications per month on average,but only two of which are under paid.
In addition,the report also shows that approximately a half of iPhone users download at least one paid application in a month,while only 40% of iPod touch users will do likewise. The iPhone users who do download paid applications average approximately five paid downloads in a month and spend an average of $9.49,while iPod touch users spend an average of $9.79, for an average each application just cost under $2.00 to download.
Thereforce,according to the survey data and basing on the users amount that 26.4 million of iPhone while 18.6 million of iPod touch,AdMob estimates that the total application store market size may be worth nearly $200 million per month, or approaching $2.5 billion in a year. comparatively, the Android market is estimated at approximately $60 million in a year,showing much smaller.
There is no doubt that the AdMob’s survey reveals a fact that the application store market is substantially large.Every mobile application marketing seller should have an idea that the market is still awaiting to develop.
