Follow on Google News | Orlando Hispanic Film Festival Set to Roll Out the Red Carpet and Reunite the Cast of “Caught”Full-length feature film stars Edward James Olmos and Maria Conchita Alonso
Orlando Hispanic Film Festival aixa@ohfilmfestival.com Orlando, FL - The Orlando Hispanic Film Festival (OHFF) presents the full-length feature film, “Caught,” on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Plaza Cinema Café in downtown Orlando. Dubbed “Reunion Screening”, the film stars Edward James Olmos and Maria Conchita Alonso. Alonso is confirmed to be part of the red carpet event. A Q&A by the writer, director and talent in the film will follow the screening. The red carpet event begins at 7:00pm in the Plaza’s courtyard tunnel and will be open to the public, followed by the film screening at 8:00pm. VIP pass holders receive front of line access to the screening and all OHFF film presentations. Seating is limited. Festival attendees, including VIP pass holders, must have a paper ticket to enter the screening of “Caught” to avoid over-booking. VIP Passes are available for $60 providing front of the line access to all films (pending availability) Based on the novel “Into It” by Edward Pomerantz, Caught tells the story about Joe, (Edward James Olmos), and Betty (Maria Conchita Alonso) who run a fish market and have sunk into a comfortable, if somewhat boring life. Then a drifter enters, Nick (Aire Verveen), who takes a job in the store and a place in their home. He proceeds to awaken Joe's hope in the future as well as Betty's sexual passions. Until their son Danny, (Steven Schub) returns home and notices the changes. “We were honored when Edward Pomerantz approached us to do this one-of-a-kind special screening at the OHFF. We knew right away this was a great fit and it's at the heart of why we do what we do each year" commented James Schoepflin, Founder and Executive Director of the OHFF. In 1996 “Caught” was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for 3 Independent Spirit Awards. "We, at the OHFF, believe that there are many strong independent Latino films that perhaps never get the needed exposure. We help provide that platform here in Orlando. "Caught" was very successful and it can also serve as inspiration to young independent filmmakers" added Schoepflin.
