The Spanish course Íbero Spanish School is offering aims to deepen the culture knowledge among our students through the study of Latin American literature. Before beginning the course, the student has the choice of what era of Latin American literature they would like to study. That means if they are interested in the Pre-Columbian oral literature dating back to the Aztecs and Mayans, a Spanish course will be organized around the relevance this literary era has had on the world. Or perhaps a student is more interested in learning about what is referred to as “The Boom” in the Latin literary world. The boom in Latin American literature took place in the mid-1960´s. Authors were deemed as rebellious for leaving the traditional point of view in Latin American literature. They experimented with languages and structures and frequently mixed two or three writing styles within one piece. “ Our special course will examine famous pieces from this era and discuss their impact and influence all through the study of Spanish” says Director Florencia Bozzano.
