Aug. 28, 2009 - PRLog -- American Feed Industry Association President and CEO, Joel G. Newman, met with Loomix Specialty Products Division about the prospective of an Equine Committee within the AFIA.  The meeting was targeted toward the Equine Committee giving the equine industry the opportunity to have a voice in Washington, D.C. Some issues within the equine industry that were discussed were about addressing ingredient concerns with ingredients like glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate.  Also discussed was label and regulatory issues that all equine feed/supplement companies face today.  For Loomix Specialty Products and AFIA, the next step is to potentially put together a proposal and present it to the AFIA Board in November.

“It was tremendous having Joel visit our home office as it gave us the opportunity to introduce him to our team, tour two of our manufacturing facilities and discuss the idea of an Equine Committee,” said National Sales Manager Preston Munsch.  “Our company is very proud to be active members of the AFIA as it has been a tremendous resource to our company.”

Joel G. Newman was able to meet with the Loomix team as he was in Denver speaking to the NCBA about gaining their support for the Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program.  Recently Joel was able to get the Pork Safety Committee of the National Pork Board to sanction the Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program.  Joel’s goal is to accomplish the same with the NCBA and noted this about his visit to Johnstown,

“I really enjoy visiting members when I travel because it gives me a direct pulse on the industry and also showcases the broad talent, expertise and ingenuity of our industry.  My recent visit to Cattleman’s Choice Loomix, LLC was a testament to each of these.  I certainly heard first-hand about the challenges facing the industry and Cattleman’s Choice.  But I also learned about several creative programs that they have developed to address these issues for their dealers and producers.  And I had the opportunity to meet an impressive team of employees who make sure this business is an asset to their producers through these times and beyond.”
