Mayfair boasted an outstanding and fun GenCon 2009. Our booth was busier and more juiced with player energy than ever been before. More than 7,000 people played or demo'd games with us in our demo area was packed, standing room only, from 10:30 A.M. Thursday till Sunday afternoon. We thank all those gamers who came out to GenCon and stopped by to visit us. We greatly appreciate the time you spent at our booth and we sincerely hope you played some games that were new to you and enjoyed the experience.
There were a lot of exciting things to see and do at GenCon this year.
For little people and their parents, a section of the show was organized just for their use. As the sponsor of the training grounds we were ecstatic to see the zone bustling with sprouting gamers.
Mayfair strongly supported the Cheese Weasel scavenger hunt events - both the standard program and the elite test. Gamer Cruises gave a cruise berth as the grand prize in the elite program. Mayfair provided a cruise berth as the grand prize for prize to a lucky gamer in the Cheese Weasel basic Scavenger Hunt. As our stop, folks had to participate in a demo in the booth or play in an event to acquire a ribbon.
Mayfair continued the "Great Ribbon Quest", expanding the program with a new ribbon sequence emphasizing four older titles. The program was a resounding success and the Catan table was overloaded, as we increased the amount of knights and defenders on the island of Catan by five fold.
The NACC wrapped up with Edgar Zurawell, from Alberta, Canada, claiming victory and the responsibility of representing North America in the World Wide Catan Championship 2010 at Wildenstein Castle in Germany. The rest of
the final four included, Paul Dueck from Winnipeg, Canada; Charles Green
from Clarksburg, West Virginia; Darren LaCoste from Orlando, Florida.
