Carl J. Taylor & Co., a Dallas Executive Search firm, celebrates over 20 years in the executive search and recruiting business. Carl J. Taylor & Co. is a retained Executive Search Firm which has successfully worked with companies in designing and completing demanding senior level and one-of-a-kind position recruitment efforts. The firm specializes in serving the Texas market (Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio), but it has worked with clients all over the U.S.
Carl Taylor, president of Carl J. Taylor & Co., spent eleven years in the management consulting and public accounting profession managing engagements in financial analysis, strategic and business planning, operations improvement, and organization evaluation before he made the jump to the executive search profession. Carl’s personal experience in the consulting business enables him to quickly learn a client's business and, more importantly, its culture which is so important to the successful completion of a critical search.
Carl J. Taylor & Co. has worked with clients ranging in size from start up enterprises to multi-billion dollar corporations. The firm has assisted companies in the Manufacturing, Construction, Energy, Education, Financial Services, and Utilities industries, and it has completed numerous searches for Professional Services Firms, including Management Consulting, Engineering, and Public Accounting.
When asked about the current economic slump and how it's affecting higher level hires Carl had this to say:
"In many sectors of the economy and in many regions of the country, we are seeing evidence that a bottom may have been reached and a recovery has started or will be starting soon. As a business owner or executive, you can take full advantage of this slow time and the hesitancy to hire to distinguish your company in the marketplace by identifying and attracting new leaders to your executive management team.
Many companies are focused on cutting costs, postponing activities, and even laying off people; however, every company must also be planning for the next move up in the business cycle. Inherent in this planning process is the assessment of your executive team and other key management leaders in your organization.
Now is the time to take action, because as the business cycle begins to show signs of recovery, many companies, including your competition, will begin to assess their leadership needs for the next move up in the economy."
Another challenge Carl has faced in his 20 years in the executive search business is educating companies that executive search services are not only for big companies. Carl points out that the reason for this flawed belief is that most of the stories you read about executive search involve assignments for very well known Fortune 500 Companies and their very high priced executives.
"It's the mid size and smaller company which can benefit most from executive search services. A single senior level hire will generally have a much greater impact on the growth and success of a smaller company, and the hiring of the wrong person in a key role at a smaller company can be disastrous. Furthermore, smaller companies usually have less experience and fewer available internal resources to identify and attract viable candidates for new management roles.
We have even been engaged by organizations with fewer than 10 people to assist them with the hiring of a key position because they know how important finding the right person is to the success of their company."
