The UK Intellectual Property Office- generally known as the Patent Office received an application for 4 new inventions to enhance existing hair loss treatments. The application was received just this week, and so details of the application are not yet published.
The patent was filed by Nanogen, British manufacturers of the revolutionary Scalproller device that has already made news and attracted great interest this month. A member of Nanogen’s product development department was reached for comment, and confirmed that the new inventions were related to the Scalproller. Whilst refusing to divulge unpublished details, they said, “The technologies we have developed and are seeking protection for will put the Scalproller into a new product category. It will be completely incomparable with any existing device.”
The Scalproller is used to increase the penetration of topical growth treatments, fade the appearance of donor scars from hair transplants, and act as the activation step for the breakthrough Platelet Rich Plasma- or PRP, therapy. It is also indicated by anecdotal evidence that controlled wounding such as from Scalproller therapy may independently promote hair growth, however clinical trials have not yet been performed. The Scalproller is already subject of numerous innovations that separate it from older rollers for dermatological purposes. The Scalproller utilises harder titanium needles and precise European engineering techniques to deliver the performance required from a precision medical instrument. Use on the scalp may cause any other microneedle device to blunt, which will cause pain and uncontrolled irritation.
Nanogen has also just launched a feedback system for their new device. Every new customer will have the option to return a survey on the ease and comfort of use of the device. Nanogen hopes to make a report available in the future, along with clinical trial data.
