GGR Launch World’s First Zone 1 Air Powered Mini Crane At Offshore Europe 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 27, 2009 -
GGR, the UK’s leading provider of lifting solutions, will be launching a ground breaking range of compressed air powered mini cranes at the Offshore Europe Exhibition 2009 in Aberdeen this September.

The pioneering range is especially relevant to the gas and oil exhibition’s estimated 40,000 visitors, as the AL Series has been specifically adapted for use in hazardous offshore and petrochemical environments.  Based upon Europe’s most widely used spider crane, the GGR AirLift series, comprising six models, is classified to operate in hazardous Zone 1 and Zone 2 environments.

The AL660, with a lifting capacity of 6 tonnes, will be exclusively displayed on a purpose built roundabout located at the main entrance to the exhibition, greeting delegates as they arrive from all over the world. The AL529 with a lifting capacity of 2.9 tonnes will be demonstrated inside the exhibition hall on stand 722.

The AL Series of mini cranes, designed for restricted access and confined working environments, provides the ideal compact lifting solution, easily transportable by land, sea and air.  Additionally, all models are designed to be dissembled into component form for helicopter transportation to remote locations, such as oil rigs.

Graeme Riley, Chief Executive Officer of GGR who will be attending the event, commented: “Our new AL Series truly is a world first and Offshore Europe is the perfect setting to officially launch this innovative technology.  The AirLift range is specifically engineered to address the problems of working in hazardous environments and is a result of our close collaboration of working with the petrochemical industry”.

The launch of the AirLift Series and its exhibition at Offshore Europe 2009, Aberdeen, comes as GGR launch a regional office in Glasgow and initiate a group rebrand, reflecting the company’s continued growth.

The GGR technical team can also assist with all technical and point loading issues and offer accredited training courses.  The AirLift meets the requirements of the EU ATEX 95 Equipment Directive, making the cranes the safe lifting solution.

About EU ATEX 95 Equipment Directive

In July 2006, the EU ATEX 95 (ATmospheres EXplosibles) Directive came into effect, requiring the classification of areas into zones, where hazardous explosive atmospheres may occur.  Zone 1 Certification allowed the use of equipment in an environment where a mixture of air and flammable substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur during normal operation.

Zone 1 certification was awarded by Sira, the world leader in conformity assessment solutions, specialising in explosion safety of equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
